Artist's Statement
A life long love of art and creative endeavors led me to study Interior Design in 2000.
It was during these classes that I was introduced to oil paints and fell in love with both the medium and the process of creating
oil paintings. I love oils as a medium due to their transparency and the luminous colors that can be created by
layering thin coats of paint.
I find inspiration for my paintings from my surroundings and in every day items.
I look for compelling subjects that offer interesting colors and shapes. My interests cover a wide range of subjects
from flowers, to seascapes to food and drinks.
I will work and rework a painting until I am satisfied it
has reached its full potential of impact to the viewer. I especially love high contrast and dramatic lighting
and like to push subtle colors to a brighter range. My aim is to compel the viewer to come closer and study the piece
and most of all, to see more new things in it each time they see it.
I hope those who view my art enjoy it
as much as I have enjoyed creating it!
A day without art is a day without sunshine.....
